Christmas Day Description
Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the most important family-oriented holiday in Argentina. On Christmas Eve, families gather for a late dinner featuring roasted meats, vitel toné (cold veal with tuna sauce), pan dulce (sweet bread), and sparkling cider. At midnight, fireworks illuminate neighborhoods across the country, and children open presents. Christmas Day is a quiet, restful holiday with all government offices, banks, and most businesses closed. Many attend morning mass before spending the day with extended family.
