Epiphany Description
Epiphany (Three Kings' Day) commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus. In Denmark, it marks the official conclusion of the Christmas season. Church services recount the biblical journey of the Magi, and in some parishes, children participate in "helligtrekongersløb" processions, carrying a star on a stick. Banks and government offices close, though many shops remain open. The tradition of "at springe julen ud" (jumping Christmas out) around the Christmas tree to mark the season's end is practiced in some homes. It is a lesser-celebrated holiday compared to Christmas but retains liturgical significance.
