Nativity of the Lord Description
Christmas Day celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and is the centerpiece of the Spanish Christmas season. While Christmas Eve ("Nochebuena") features larger family dinners, Christmas Day is a quieter public holiday with extended family gatherings and festive meals. All public offices, banks, and most businesses close. Many attend morning mass. Traditional foods include roast lamb, seafood, and turrón (almond nougat). The season extends through Three Kings' Day on January 6.
