Epiphany Description
Epiphany (Loppiainen) commemorates the revelation of Christ to the Three Wise Men and marks the conclusion of the Finnish Christmas season. Church services recount the journey of the Magi, and Christmas decorations are traditionally taken down on or after this date. Banks, government offices, and most businesses close across Finland. The day is notably quieter than Christmas or New Year's, observed mainly through church attendance and family gatherings. In many homes, the last Christmas treats are enjoyed, and the season's festive atmosphere gives way to the deep winter routine. Some regions see small community events with carol singing.
