Independence Day Description
Celebrates the beginning of the War of Independence from Spain on September 16, 1810, when Father Miguel Hidalgo issued the Grito de Dolores. The highlight occurs the night before as the President reenacts the Grito from the balcony of the National Palace before a packed Zócalo, followed by spectacular fireworks. Streets erupt in cries of 'Viva México!' with tricolor decorations, mariachi music, and traditional foods like pozole and chiles en nogada defining the celebration.
