Whit Monday Description
Whit Monday is the second day of Pentecost and an official national public holiday. Banks, government offices, and schools close. Many Dutch people attend music festivals, the most prominent being the Pinkpop festival — one of Europe's longest-running outdoor pop festivals held in Landgraaf, Limburg. Others take short trips to the countryside or coast. Since Whit Monday always falls in late spring, it is a popular day for outdoor recreation, cycling, and boating on the country's extensive canals and lakes.
