Boxing Day Description
Boxing Day (Andre juledag) extends the Christmas celebration in Norway and is a public holiday with banks and government offices closed. It is traditionally a day for visiting friends and more distant relatives, continuing the festive atmosphere. Many Norwegians attend "romjulsselskap" (Christmas parties) or meet at local pubs and restaurants now reopening. Outdoor activities like skiing and sledding are popular, particularly when snow conditions are favorable. The "romjul" period between Christmas and New Year's is cherished as a time of relaxation, with Boxing Day serving as the festive transition toward the calmer days that follow.
