Boxing Day Description
Boxing Day ("Annandag jul") extends the Christmas celebration in Sweden. It is a public holiday with banks and government offices closed. Traditionally a day for visiting friends and extended family, it now also marks the beginning of the "mellandagsrea" — post-Christmas sales that draw large crowds to shopping centers. Many Swedes attend sporting events, particularly bandy matches and the Annandagsbandy tradition.
