Epiphany Description
Epiphany commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus. In Sweden, it has been a public holiday with a fixed date rather than moved to a weekend, preserving its January 6 observance. Church services recount the biblical story, and in some regions, "stjärngossar" (star boys) processions continue the Christmas season. Public offices, banks, and most businesses close. It marks the final day of the extended Swedish Christmas period, and many families use it to take down decorations. The holiday is quieter than Christmas Eve but retains liturgical significance.
